After reading the article I saw that blockbuster was the main one going against the privacy laws because facebook gave the individual the choice to deny blockbuster from putting their information on their facebook page but blockbuster went ahead and put it against the persons wanting. Does this seem unethical to you? That they would go to those measures just to advertise their company, they would purposely let your private doings become everyone else’s. This could create problems with many people because they want to keep what movies they rent and see private, but blockbuster is just putting it out there for everyone to see. For example if your boss not see “I Robot” and someone used your file to rent it and it went on your facebook for everyone to see including your boss then it would seem that you went against what he told you to do. In the end blockbuster and its beacon program should be controlled to where it actually does what the people want it to do, also facebook should be more aware and ready to fix whatever problems it has.

The trend today is to replace many musical instruments with virtual instruments--instruments that exist only in software. This trend has resulted in a new branch of the music industry called electronica--music designed from the ground up with digital technology.
Explain your opinion regarding the musical talent and skill sets of electronica musicians versus traditional musicians.

RE: Electronica Musicians vs. Traditional Musicians

It's a well known fact that most of today's music is digitally created and edited, and this has created a new definition for music. In the past, music was created with actual instruments and recorded live on location or not at all. Now, electronica musicians use digital technology to produce musical compositions. In my personal opinion, I believe that it takes just as much skill for a traditional musician to compose a piece as it does for an electronica musician. Being a traditional musician myself (playing the trumpet), I know the difficulties of creating a musical piece. You have to learn to play your instrument and know the tendencies of your instrument and how to adjust to them. Electronica musicians can be seen as doing the exact same thing only with a new kind of instrument, the computer. They also need to learn to play their "instruments", programs, and know how to make their programs make the way they need them to.

The Background:
A computer system manager at a public university noticed that the number of Web accesses to the system jumped dramatically. In one day, there were 13,000 accesses to one student's home page. The system manager discovered this student's home page contained several sexually oriented pictures. The pictures were similar to those published in many magazines available legally. The system manager told the male student to remove the pictures.
The Grievance Cases:
A female student who accessed the pictures before they were removed filed a grievance against the university for sexual harassment. The male student who set up the home page filed a grievance against the university for violation of his First Amendment rights.
Your Assignment:
1. Develop an argument for the female student, the male student, and the university based on freedom of speech and censorship as it applies to them. 2. Who do you feel should be held responsible and Why?

The female student shouldnt feel grievance toward the university for sxual harassment, its totally differnt from feeling and actuall being harrassed. I understand that First amendment rights lets her take pictures, but they should be kept to herself. She should also know better not to post picture that are suxual oriented. The school should have also put a rule of something towards the pictures that can be taken and posted on line since its being done in campus.
The male student has the right to feel grievance, because he created the home page and it;s violating the first amendment, however he should know that if his going to put something inapropriate he should look up the polocies for things that can be posted on the home page, and if he didnt find any; and the university told him he couldnt put he had evidence that in no book says that he cant post sexual oriented pictures online espacially on campus then he would have the rights. The male student should know better than that then to post pictures like that online, because many people view them and it should also be common sense since your in school.
Who should be responsible: I think all of them have resposibility, because the students should know not to post pictures like that online. The university should have a rule book or something that says what can and cant be posted on home page, so students can be aware of the situtation.

I think it would be nice if they could, however i do realize that it is nearly impossible for the websites to be able to monitor every users comments i mean they may be able to censor what articles they post but their readers comments can not be monitored without them first being reported to the administrator to the site. Also if they did it could possibly spark a debate about freedom of speech from their readers and commenters in general. i beleive that on social networking sites and blogs that the comments do not really need to be moderated because on those types of sites you usually have the freedom to let only certain select people see your publishings, and if they are being rude you can block them. however newspapers may be a little different because you do not get to decide what kind of people are commenting and some people can be downright harsh, critical and rude. I do not beleive that taking comments off of the sites completely would help becuase you do want to hear reader input but at the same time no one wants to be constantly attacked.

I am Pro Net Neutrality because if the internet is run by the market, then the small business would not have a fighting chance in our new technology based society, because they would not be financially stable enough to pay the so called "toll" to get adequate bandwidth for the people who are visiting their site, this means that when consumers come to visit their site they would be waiting for a fairly long time for it to load if it ever did at it. I feel that this is a new form of social darwinism because they are pretty much setting the small businesses up for failure while in turn making it easier for already thriving business to get even more publicity just because they have the financial aspect on their side.

Research the new policy Facebook has implemented--very quietly I might add-- regarding pictures posted on Facebook sites.
1. How is this similar or different than Turnitin.com owning your papers? 2. Do you feel Facebook's new policy is a violation of your privacy? Explain why or why not?

In the following (true) cases, 1) tell whether the people are interpreting the right being claimed as a negative right (liberty) or a positive right (claim-right). Explain with reasons and examples. 2) In each case, which kind of right SHOULD it be and why?
a) A man sued his insurance company because it would not pay for Viagra. He argued that the insurer's refusal to pay denied his right to a happy sex life.
b) Two legislators who lost reelection votes sued an organization that ran ads criticizing their voting records. The former legislators argued that the organization interfered with their right to hold office.
